This page will be frequently updated with opportunities for our troops to contribute to society.  For details, please contact the Contributing to Society Chairperson.

Each troop should let the CTS Chair know about their community service - so we can celebrate and share!  You can do this by sending an email to the Contributing to Society Chairperson with the following information:
-  Troop#
-  Leader Name
-  Brief Description of the community service
-  Attach up to 3 digital photos

Community Service Opportunities

October Service Unit Meeting - Totes for Tots
We did this last May and we are going to do it again - and give troops time to collect suitcases.
We would like yout to collect gently used suitcases, book bags, totes, etc., and bring them to the October Service Unit Meeting.
We will give these toes to Wanda Macon-Sanders.  She works with children who are in the foster children system.  Many times when they are moving a child they have to put all the child's belongings into a garbage bag.  It breaks her heart, but she has no alternatives.
Please share this opportunity with your troops and bring your totes to the October Service Unit Meeting.

November Service Unit Meeting - Thanksgiving Basket
Troops will have an opportunity to compete in basket designs.
all the food collected will be donated tot he Norcross Cooperative Ministry.

December Service Unit Meeting - Teen Gift Drive
Bring new items to donate to teen girls.  All items are donated to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry.

April 24-26, 2009 - National Youth Service Day
This year we will have a few opportunities for performing service on this weekend.

Other Community Service Opportunities for the Norcross Service Unit
                          JUST  CALL,    EXPERIENCE,    AND  ENJOY
Please be aware that some of these are suited for certain age groups.  Always check with the contact to ensure your age group can perform the required functions.

If an organization has an address not in Norcross, they may have an event close by that you might want to be involved in.  Just call and ask.

If you travel downtown for a volunteer event, make a day of it!  In the past, our troop has worked handing out water at Race For The Cure in the morning then had lunch at the Rock Café.  Just enjoy the day!
